Katherine Barrier is a freelance writer and editor based out of Cincinnati who has published work in both print and digital media.
Katherine is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati's McMicken College of Arts and Sciences where she studied journalism and English literature. While in school, she worked as a reporter for the university's student-run newspaper, The News Record, writing about student life and events on campus.
During her junior year, Katherine worked as an editorial intern at Family Tree Magazine, a genealogy magazine published through F+W Media. As an intern, she proofread and fact-checked articles, coded and posted articles to Family Tree's website and helped produce the magazine's digital format.
Also during her time at school, Katherine managed her own blog, Urban Conserve, where she wrote about sustainability, urban conservation and environmental news.
After graduating from the University of Cincinnati, Katherine started working as a digital content producer for Cincinnati news station, Local 12-WKRC. There she writes, edits and produces news for the station's website. She also manages the station's social media pages.
Katherine began her freelance career in May 2013. Since then, she has been published in dog-lover's Bark Magazine, worked as an environmental reporter for Examiner.com, a content producer for Angie's List and collaborated with Strategic Franchising's marketing team to produce monthly newsletters and press kits for the company's home healthcare division. She currently writes for IZEA Zen Content where she produces digital content for companies such as Ask.com, eBay and The Knot.
Katherine's projects reflect her interests in topics such as science, literature and history, but what she really enjoys writing about is people doing amazing things, whether they're helping others, pursuing their passion or if they're just undeniably interesting.
